‘You Will Be The Next Charlie’: Glenn Youngkin Urges Crowd To Continue Kirk’s Legacy

Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin urged a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) rally crowd to continue slain founder Charlie Kirk’s legacy on Wednesday.

Kirk founded TPUSA, a 501(c)(3) group, in 2012, focusing on student mobilization to champion conservative values on campus and beyond. Youngkin said at the Virginia Tech rally that he viewed the attendees as “the next Charlie.”

“I wish Charlie were here tonight. I wish we were engaging in that amazing moment where Charlie speaks truth, there is a dialogue, a respect, a recognition of the beauty of freedom of expression,” Youngkin said. “And we will have that tonight. But I know we all wish Charlie was here.”

“But see, the truth is that the question that has been asked over and over again is, ‘Who will be the next Charlie?’ And as I look out in this room and I see thousands of you, I want to repeat the best answer that I have heard,” he continued. “You will be the next Charlie. All of you. And that is something to take home tonight.”

TPUSA has tour dates scheduled at other universities through November, according to its website.

Kirk was assassinated at the University of Utah on Sept. 10 while speaking to a large audience on a campus tour. TPUSA named Kirk’s widow, Erika, as its new CEO and has reported a surge of student interest since his assassination.

Since its inception, TPUSA has generated nearly half a billion dollars in revenue, expanded into high schools and colleges across the nation and grown its staff.

Kirk played a major role in the 2024 presidential election, where President Donald Trump secured both the Electoral College and popular vote over former Vice President Kamala Harris.
