āe are thankful to president for this invitation and the form of what we will have,ā Zelenskyy said in the video. āItās important signals about security guarantees and thatās why itās important that we are together with the United States and Europe and the president accepted the meeting, common meeting, also after our bilateral common meeting with Europeans.ā
The Ukrainian president added that he was āso gratefulā that major European leaders would be joining the meeting.
Zelenskyy is well-known for wearing casual and military outfits during official diplomatic visits and will reportedly wear the identical black jacket he wore for the NATO summit in June, sources told Axios. Zelenskyyās refusal to wear common formal clothing for official visits was reportedly one minor factor leading to Trumpās explosive White House exchange with him in February.
Trump wroteĀ onĀ Truth Social Sunday that Zelenskyy could end his war with Russia if he agreed to drop both his pursuit of NATO membership and aspirations to retake Crimea after Russia seized the region in 2014.
āPresident Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight,ā Trump wrote. āRemember how it started. No getting back Obama given Crimea (12 years ago, without a shot being fired!), and NO GOING INTO NATO BY UKRAINE. Some things never change!!!ā
