President Joe Biden is not happy with how much his age is being discussed, according to a report.
On Tuesday, Politico noted Biden has “repeatedly declined to say he’s running for reelection.”
The outlet explained, “That’s because, yes, he doesn’t want to trigger the Federal Election Committee, which may require him to file organizational paperwork if he was to say definitively he’s running.”
Still, Biden’s potential for a second term in 2024 has prompted discussions surrounding his age.
According to Politico, Biden “has vented to allies about how often his age is mentioned in the press.”
He reportedly said to one ally, “You think I don’t know how f***ing old I am?”
A USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll found Biden leads former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head race, but trails behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).
DeSantis has 47% of the support while Biden has 43%.
The president is currently facing some calls from progressives not to run.
Progressive organization RootsAction released a television ad in New Hampshire as part of its “Don’t Run Joe” campaign.
The group’s national director, Norman Solomon, explained, “Biden should heed the voters of his party rather than simply declaring watch me run for re-election,” as The Hill reported.
He added, “His public approval ratings remain dismal, as they have been all year. No amount of bravado from the White House can change the severe vulnerabilities that a Biden 2024 campaign would face.”
Politico asked Rep. Mike Levin (D-Calif.) if it would be in the country’s best interest to have an 85-year-old president.
“I just hope and pray that when I am in my 80s I still have that kind of energy,” he said.
Biden turned 80 years old last month, making him America’s oldest president.
Trump would be 82 at the end of his second term if he were to take the White House again.
