Brit Hume said on a Tuesday podcast that he does not believe former Vice President Kamala Harris has a shot at becoming the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee again.

Harris secured the 2024 nomination in August with virtually no primary voter approval after former President Joe Biden dropped out on July 21 and endorsed her. When host Mark Halperin asked Hume on “Next Up with Mark Halperin” whether Harris was a viable candidate for the nomination again, Hume said she lacked political strength and substance.

“It’s hard for me to imagine they do that again. It’s just hard for me to imagine that,” Hume said. “I think she was the single weakest presidential candidate I can remember … Look, there’s no there there.”

Halperin quipped that Hume’s comment might prompt “thank-you notes” from previous failed presidential candidates John Kerry and Mitt Romney.

“Still, I hold to that judgment,” Hume doubled down.

Halperin responded that Hume’s take was not “outrageous.”

“Her supporters would say she was thrown into it, and I say, well, if you didn’t think you could win in 90 days, you shouldn’t have put your hand up for the nomination,” the host added. “Wasn’t like a surprise what the calendar said.”

“One of her weaknesses is her tendency to overestimate herself,” Hume responded.

Harris drew criticism throughout her campaign based on how she answered questions, with many accusing her of delivering “word salads” that lack details during interviews.

Halperin previously asserted on “2WAY Tonight” in October that Harris’ indecisiveness was her primary weakness.

“One thing about the vice president that, if you studied her career, including her time in California as a senator, as a presidential candidate in 2019, the thing that people put their finger on is her lack of decisiveness … That, to me, is her Achilles’ heel; that is the thing that bedevils her,” he said at the time.

“Because public speaking — she’s not a stupid person — public speaking on tough questions, even if they’re not asked in a tough way, involves on-your-feet, making decisions about what to say,” he added. “And you don’t want to annoy anybody or anger anybody or commit a political error.”

The former vice president also supported a slew of left-wing policies during her 2020 presidential run, including a fracking ban, mandatory federal gun buybacks and the abolition of private health insurance. She backtracked on these positions during her 2024 campaign.

Harris ultimately lost all seven battleground states and the national popular vote to President Donald Trump in November.
