According to Entertainment Weekly, Grohl teamed up with The Big Umbrella Foundation to cook for the hungry on Saturday at Fed Square in Melbourne.

The charity posted about Grohl’s epic cooking skills on Instagram, stating, “Wow! What a day. Our friends on the street were treated to an epic american style bbq with all the trimmings prepared by rock legend Dave Grohl of the @foofighters.”

“It will be a day ‘our friends on the streets’ will never forget as they brushed up against a rock legend and one of the nicest guys on the planet who genuinely cares for people in need,” they went on.

The charity continued, “No words can fully capture the impact of this positive experience.”

Grohl and a team of other volunteers smoked over 264 pounds of meat for 18 hours and then served the homeless in the grueling Aussie heat.

After two hours of feeding those in need, Grohl and the charity had filled 430 plates. He also gave out autographs to top off the event.

The Big Umbrella Foundation concluded its post by stating, “What a guy! What a day!”

Grohl has become known for his generosity. NME reported he cooked and served meals for the Hope of the Valley organization in February and then broke out his barbeque skills to help Feed the Streets LA in March.

His love of barbecuing is well known and was even documented by Bon Appetit Magazine.

He noted that his love of cooking outdoors began after he broke his leg falling offstage. He needed something to do and learned how to smoke meat.

Grohl then began cooking for others. His love of barbecue was even featured in the Foo Fighters’ horror movie Studio 666, but in real life, he uses his abilities for good instead of evil.
