125 Michigan Guard troops deploy for border security
About 125 members of the Michigan Army National Guard’s 1432nd Engineer Company, based in Kingsford and Gladstone, are deploying to the Southwest Border for up to a year. Under U.S. Northern Command and Joint Task Force North, they will support Customs and Border Protection’s border-security operations, allowing federal agents to carry out law enforcement duties. The deployment is Michigan’s seventh to the border since 2020; the soldiers and their families gathered for a departure ceremony in Escanaba in October.
