16-year-old arrested in fatal Albuquerque shooting

A 20-year-old woman, Estreita Maes-Tapia, died after being shot inside a car near Gibson Boulevard and De Anza Drive in southwest Albuquerque. After initial reports said the suspect had fled and no arrest had been announced, police arrested 16-year-old Nemecio Lopez in connection with her death. Investigators said surveillance footage, gunshot-detection technology and license-plate readers helped lead to the arrest, and that Lopez and Maes-Tapia knew each other. Lopez faces charges of an open count of murder and shooting at or from a motor vehicle.
