Driver and guardian arrested after 2-year-old killed in North Charleston hit-and-run

A 2-year-old girl, Haisha Dominguez Marin, was killed Sept. 9 after being struck near Rivers Avenue and Eagle Drive in North Charleston, South Carolina. Police arrested Anayely Lovato Guerrero, 27, charging her with reckless homicide and leaving the scene of a collision involving death; investigators say she heard a bang after leaving a Goodwill store but continued driving. Court testimony indicated surveillance footage showed the vehicle traveling about 65 mph in a 45-mph zone, and that Guerrero briefly exited to inspect the vehicle before leaving; she was denied bail on the hit-and-run charge. The child’s guardian, 21-year-old Glaimar Alejandra Ramirez Dominguez, was also arrested and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after detectives said evidence raised questions about the child’s supervision. The investigation remains ongoing, with North Charleston police, the Charleston County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division involved.
