FIA Approves 24-Race 2027 F1 Calendar With Portugal and Turkey Returns

Formula 1 will return to Portugal’s Algarve International Circuit in Portimão from June 18 to 20, 2027, as part of a 24-race season approved by the FIA. The race will be Portugal’s first planned championship fixture since 1996 and follows the circuit’s 2020 and 2021 events, with a two-year agreement also covering 2028. Turkey will likewise return to the calendar in October, while Monaco, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and two other venues will host Sprint events for the first time. The 2027 season will begin in Bahrain on March 12-14 and conclude in Abu Dhabi on December 10-12, with organizers emphasizing a more geographically efficient schedule to reduce travel and improve sustainability. Portuguese officials expect the Grand Prix to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and generate roughly €150 million in regional economic activity.
