76-Foot Capitol Christmas Tree Begins Idaho Tour

The 76-foot 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, an Engelmann spruce harvested from Idaho’s Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests, is beginning a nearly 3,000-mile journey to the Capitol’s West Lawn. The public can see it at stops in Idaho communities, including Grangeville, Lewiston, Moscow, Orofino and Kamiah, before it continues through other states to Washington, D.C. In Moscow, the University of Idaho plans interactive forestry activities, including lidar demonstrations, alongside the free viewing event. The tree will be decorated with handmade ornaments created by Idaho residents for the holiday season.
