99 Ranch Market plans Chino closure, 49 layoffs

99 Ranch Market plans to close its Chino store on November 15, affecting 49 employees. Its parent company filed a WARN notice on October 26, less than the 60 days’ advance notice generally required under the law. Separately, a Safeway in San Jose that has operated for 57 years is expected to close around November 13. Safeway has not publicly explained the decision or announced employee plans, and no replacement grocery store or redevelopment has been confirmed; the closure could also disrupt nearby students and school programs that use the store.
