Absentee Voting Underway in Minnesota, Planned in Mississippi

Absentee voting is opening across several jurisdictions for the 2026 general election. Mississippi begins its absentee-voting process Sept. 21, with officials warning voters that procedures have changed. In Minnesota, absentee voting began Sept. 18 and is available by mail or in person without requiring voters to provide a reason. Minnesota voters can apply online or through county election offices, and some counties are introducing or expanding early in-person voting that allows completed ballots to be placed directly into tabulators. Officials are reminding voters who return ballots by mail to allow enough time for delivery, while authorized individuals may drop off ballots for up to three other voters with identification and required paperwork.
