Acuff sets NBA debut record with 19 misses
Sacramento Kings rookie Darius Acuff Jr. struggled in his NBA debut, scoring 12 points on 5-for-24 shooting in a 121-96 season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. He went 0-for-7 from three-point range, made 2 of 5 free throws and committed four turnovers in 35 minutes. His 19 missed field-goal attempts reportedly set a record for the most by a player in an NBA debut since the NBA-ABA merger. The performance exposed concerns about his efficiency, but it was only one game; as a high draft pick on a rebuilding Kings team, Acuff is expected to have opportunities to learn and take on a major role.
