Agriculture Education Events Reach Thousands Across States
Agricultural education events are giving students hands-on ways to understand farming, food production and careers across the industry. In Illinois, 368 students from seven area schools attended workshops on topics including animal health, crops, conservation, engineering and agricultural careers. At Allentown’s Great Allentown Fair, about 1,800 students are expected to take part in activities such as sheep shearing, honeybee education and making applesauce, helping connect urban children with the origins of food and fiber. Ohio has also opened a 177,000-square-foot Agriculture Center featuring exhibits on modern farming, technology, animals and Ohio-grown products, with state leaders emphasizing its role in showcasing agriculture and encouraging young people to explore industry careers.
