AI Cuts Some Deutsche Bank Loan Decisions to Minutes
Deutsche Bank is using an AI system to speed up some corporate lending decisions, reducing reviews for smaller businesses from weeks to minutes and for multinational companies from months to weeks. The bank says faster, more standardized reviews could reduce manual work and help it process more loans without comparable increases in staffing. Technology chief Marie-Jeanne Deverdun said the bank is also preparing for AI agents to interact directly with clients’ agents, while emphasizing that cybersecurity is a top priority. The efficiency gains depend on strong oversight, auditable systems and protection of sensitive data; Deutsche Bank plans to spend more than €2.5 billion on technology from 2026 through 2028.
