Airbus Delivers 72 Jets; September Orders Tumble
Airbus said on Oct. 8, 2026 that it delivered 72 commercial aircraft in September, raising its total through Sept. 30 to 547. That was its best month since June’s 89 and up from 57 in August. Aviation Week listed the mix as 59 A320neo-family jets, six A220s, two A330-900s and three A350-900s. September brought 17 new orders, including Air Cairo A320neos and two A321neos for FlyOne Armenia, and three A220-300 cancellations. Gross orders for the year reached 1,174; net orders stood at 1,105. The backlog moved from 9,368 to 9,310. At the same point in 2025 Airbus had delivered 507 aircraft. Sources differ on the remaining fourth-quarter load inside the 850-870 target. The shared range is 303 to 323 more aircraft; Aviation Week cited at least 313 to the midpoint, Air Data News 323 toward about 870, and GuruFocus noted 246 more would merely match 2025’s 793. Air Data News counted eight A220-300s in the September haul where Aviation Week listed six A220s. Reuters had reported the week before that deliveries were around 72 despite supply-chain concerns. In late September, commercial aircraft chief executive Lars Wagner expressed confidence in the annual target. No left- or center-rated coverage appeared in the record. Airbus schedules its third-quarter earnings call for Oct. 28.
