Airport Authorities Advance Upgrades Across Three States

Airport authorities in Jackson, Mississippi, and Knoxville, Tennessee, are advancing major infrastructure projects. In Jackson, the airport board authorized negotiations on a predevelopment agreement with the Jackson Forward team for a new passenger terminal, including a new concourse and six gates; construction is expected to begin in 2028, with private investment and public funding supporting the project. In Knoxville, ongoing airport upgrades include Taxiway Y and a runway safety area, while reconstruction of Runway 5R/23L proceeds in five phases, two of which are complete.
