Airports Conduct Emergency Response Drills Across Three Countries
Airports and an airline are conducting emergency exercises to test readiness, coordination and response procedures for aviation accidents. Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport’s full-scale drill includes emergency vehicles and controlled fire and smoke on the north side of the airfield, but officials say commercial flights and terminal operations will not be affected. Bradley International Airport’s federally required exercise involved airport staff, emergency responders, hospital personnel and volunteers acting as injured victims. In Seoul, Air Premia simulated an aircraft accident to test its response from initial notification through passenger support and coordination with outside agencies. Airport International Group also announced a coordinated emergency drill to assess readiness against civil aviation requirements, saying it would not disrupt flight schedules.
