Alabama Awards $27 Million to Auburn, Healthcare School
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey approved $27 million in Public School and College Authority funding for capital projects, including $22 million for Auburn University and $5 million for the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences. The funds come from interest earned on bonds issued in 2020. Auburn said its allocation will establish the Kay Ivey Institute for Civic Leadership, focused on character, civic knowledge, U.S. history and responsible leadership; the university plans to develop the institute’s programming and priorities in the coming months. The healthcare school’s funding will support its educational mission preparing students for healthcare careers, including in rural communities.
