Alabama reinstates Holloway, suspends him five games

Alabama guard Aden Holloway will rejoin the men’s basketball team this season after completing a second-chance program following his March arrest on marijuana-related charges. He will sit out three exhibition games and the first two regular-season games, and is expected to make his return against Oakland on Nov. 9. Athletic director Greg Byrne said the school was disappointed by Holloway’s choices but encouraged by his response; the charges were dismissed after he met the program’s requirements. Holloway, a leading scorer for the Crimson Tide, missed Alabama’s NCAA tournament run following his arrest.
