Alan Jackson Releases Live Version of 9/11 Anthem From Farewell Concert
Alan Jackson is releasing a newly recorded live version of “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” to mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Recorded during his June farewell concert at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, the performance comes from Jackson’s final full-length show as a touring artist. Jackson wrote the song shortly after the attacks to express the nation’s grief, vulnerability and hope rather than vengeance, and debuted it at the 2001 CMA Awards. The original became a No. 1 country hit and earned major honors, including Jackson’s first Grammy, while remaining a staple of memorial performances and a song audiences continue to request.
Where do you stand?
