Alaska Airlines Plans 121 Permanent Job Cuts
Alaska Airlines plans permanent job cuts across its Washington operations, with layoffs expected to begin around Dec. 31, 2026, at locations in Renton, Seattle and Spokane; the affected facilities will remain open. A state WARN notice identifies 121 positions in Washington, while a separate report says Alaska Air Group is cutting about 200 jobs overall, including positions in Hawaii. The broader reductions target non-contract roles, with no frontline, non-management positions affected, and the company says impacted employees will receive pay through Dec. 31 along with severance and other support. CEO Ben Minicucci cited rising fuel costs and overhead that has grown faster than revenue, warning that the parent company could face a substantial adjusted pretax loss if conditions persist.
