Alaska Senator Sullivan’s X Account Suspended, Reinstated
X temporarily suspended Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan’s campaign account on Friday, Oct. 30, after it was reported for allegedly violating the platform’s rules against inauthentic accounts; the account was restored the next day. The suspension came days before the Nov. 3 election, in a race complicated by independent candidate Dan J. Sullivan, who shares the incumbent’s name. Republican representatives accused Democratic candidate Mary Peltola’s campaign of reporting the account and of recruiting the same-name challenger to confuse voters; Peltola’s campaign denied involvement in both matters, and Dan J. Sullivan has also denied being recruited. X did not publicly explain the suspension or reinstatement.
