Alaska storm brings heavy rain and 75 mph winds to Southcentral
A powerful storm is bringing rain, strong winds and winter weather to Alaska, with the heaviest rain expected across coastal Southcentral, the Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound. Seward could receive 3 to 5 inches of rain, raising the risk of localized flooding, while Anchorage and parts of the Mat-Su Valley are also expected to see rain and possible roadway ponding. High winds could produce gusts up to 75 mph in Anchorage and Eagle River, and the Northern Susitna Valley is under a winter storm warning for 7 to 15 inches of snow. The storm is also affecting other parts of Alaska, with high winds forecast near the Alaska Range and snow expected in western and northern areas.
