Alcaraz Beats Shelton for Maiden Paris Masters Title
Carlos Alcaraz won his first Paris Masters title, defeating Ben Shelton 7-6(5), 7-5 for his ninth Masters 1000 crown and second consecutive tournament victory. He saved six break points in the opening set and, after falling behind in the second, broke back and won five of the final six games. The victory extends Alcaraz’s winning streak to nine matches and caps a strong late-season return after a wrist injury kept him out for much of the year. He also became the third man, after Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, to win a Masters 1000 title in five consecutive years.
