Algeria Reportedly Severs Ties With UAE
Algeria’s relations with foreign partners are showing both new tensions and efforts at deeper cooperation. Algeria has reportedly severed diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates after saying it had exhausted efforts to preserve bilateral relations, amid Algerian media accusations that Abu Dhabi has contributed to regional instability. In France, Socialist figure Ségolène Royal and the rector of the Grand Mosque of Paris have pushed back against far-right rhetoric portraying support for Algeria as disloyal, warning that hostility could cost France important political and economic interests. Meanwhile, Algeria and India are seeking to expand cooperation in mining through technology transfers, joint research, geological mapping and investment, reflecting broader efforts to strengthen their strategic partnership.
