Ann Arbor Power Opposition Reports $2.7M Spending
Campaign finance reports show a sharp imbalance in spending over Ann Arbor’s Nov. 3 public-power ballot proposal. The grassroots group supporting a municipal electric utility raised nearly $60,000 in cash this election cycle, largely from community members, while the DTE-backed opposition had received $1.8 million in cash and reported more than $1.7 million in total spending. DTE also provided substantial in-kind support, including legal services, as the opposition raised additional funds from an electrical workers’ union and an investor-owned utility trade group.
