Ann Richards Supporters Rally for Hinojosa Before Voting

Former staffers and supporters of late Texas Gov. Ann Richards rallied behind Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa, drawing parallels between Hinojosa’s campaign and Richards’ 1990 run. Richards’ former campaign manager Mary Beth Rogers said Hinojosa had been underestimated but was now competitive, while organizer Margaret Justus urged volunteers to turn memories of Richards into action by mobilizing voters for Hinojosa and Democrats across the ballot. The rally emphasized grassroots turnout as early voting began and framed Hinojosa’s campaign as a chance to make history as Texas’ first Latina governor.
