Killeen apartment fire sends seven to hospital including two who jumped

A fire at an eight-unit apartment building on Lake Road in Killeen, Texas, forced residents to evacuate Monday afternoon. Five residents were taken to the hospital, including two who jumped from a window, while a police officer was treated for smoke inhalation and a firefighter for knee pain. Authorities said residents had evacuated before crews searched the apartments; nine people and several pets were reported displaced. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the Red Cross was contacted to help residents.
