Apartment Projects Advance Across Seoul, U.S. Cities
Seoul approved planning guidelines for a 23-story residential redevelopment in Heukseok-dong, aiming to restart a long-stalled project while adapting it to the area’s steep, scenic terrain and improving roads and pedestrian access. In Monroe, Connecticut, a developer is seeking zoning changes to allow two apartment buildings totaling 84 units near a Trumbull neighborhood, drawing objections from nearby homeowners concerned about the project’s scale and proximity. Grand Rapids’ Brownfield Redevelopment Authority supports a proposed $15.6 million, 72-unit apartment project at the site of a former school, including 15 homes with rents aimed at households earning no more than 80% of area median income. In Monroe, North Carolina, construction is planned for an $80 million, 275-unit apartment community with extensive recreational amenities and projected rents starting around $1,700. In Waukesha, Wisconsin, a developer is seeking a zoning change for an 84-unit apartment complex with a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes.
