App State, ECU plan 2029 Charlotte game

Appalachian State and East Carolina will renew their in-state football rivalry in Charlotte on Sept. 1, 2029, as part of the Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium. The matchup brings the teams back to the venue where they first met as FBS programs in 2021, when App State won 33-19. App State has also won the teams’ three subsequent meetings, including a 27-24 victory earlier this season, and leads the all-time series 23-12. Organizers and school officials say the game will celebrate North Carolina college football and draw both fan bases to Charlotte; ticket details will be announced later.
