Archer Completes 200-Mile Bay Area Air Taxi Tests
Archer Aviation says its piloted, all-electric Midnight air taxi completed several days of flights across the San Francisco Bay Area, taking off and landing at Oakland International Airport as part of its “No Roads” tour. The aircraft traveled more than 200 miles across multiple cities, reached speeds of up to 131 mph and demonstrated operations in busy airspace near the region’s major airports. A flight from Oakland to San Francisco’s Marina District took about 10 minutes, compared with roughly an hour or more by car. Archer said the demonstrations involved coordination with the FAA and state and local partners, and were intended to show how electric air taxis could connect communities while avoiding road traffic and operating without flight emissions. Los Angeles is the tour’s next stop as Archer prepares to participate in the federal eVTOL Integration Pilot Program.
