Arizona Forward RJ Godfrey Awaits Georgia Appeals Court Eligibility Ruling
Arizona forward RJ Godfrey remains ineligible for the upcoming season while the Georgia courts consider his bid for an additional year under the NCAA’s new five-years-in-five-years eligibility rules. A trial judge initially granted him an injunction, but the Georgia Court of Appeals stayed that order, while players in some other states have been allowed to compete under separate rulings. Godfrey, a class of 2022 player who spent four seasons at Clemson and Georgia, argues he is a true five-for-five case. Coach Tommy Lloyd has publicly backed Godfrey and other players from that class, criticizing the uneven outcomes and saying players who used five seasons should be eligible.
