Armed standoffs end in arrests in Rockford, Cheyenne

A six-hour armed standoff in east Cheyenne ended Wednesday night with the arrest of 42-year-old Brian Kuzma. Deputies were initially called after a report that Kuzma had fired a shot at a tree and had previously threatened a resident; they later found him at his home near Imperial Court. Negotiators tried by phone to persuade him to leave, while police and sheriff’s deputies established a perimeter and nearby residents were told to shelter in place. After he refused to come out, officers deployed gas and forced entry, with a police dog assisting in his apprehension. Kuzma was arrested on charges including aggravated assault and stalking; one report also listed interference with a peace officer.
