Army Activates Indo-Pacific Task Force at Fort Carson
The Army activated the 4th Multi-Domain Task Force at Fort Carson, Colorado, to support operations in the Indo-Pacific by coordinating long-range fires and other capabilities intended to disrupt adversary forces and give U.S. and allied units an advantage. The unit currently has about 900 soldiers and is expected to grow to roughly 2,100 across four battalions; its capabilities include HIMARS, intelligence, air defense, cyber and electronic warfare, with larger drones also cited. Col. Hugh W.A. Jones took command, and the task force will report to the 7th Infantry Division (Multi-Domain Command-Pacific) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, as Army leaders describe the formation as a way to deter conflict while preparing for combat.
