Army Opens Two Indiana Sites to Commercial Drone Testing
The Army is expanding its Permissive Test Range Expansion Initiative to Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck Training Center in Indiana, opening both facilities to commercial companies testing drone and counter-drone technologies. The partnership with the Indiana National Guard is intended to reduce administrative barriers and help developers move systems from testing toward military use more quickly. Camp Atterbury offers more than 34,000 acres of secure space and restricted airspace, while Muscatatuck provides configurable urban infrastructure for testing navigation, tracking and counter-drone systems. Companies can request access through the Army’s test-range process, with Army staff coordinating schedules and requirements.
