Democratic Virginia gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger said on Friday that she will refuse to work with President Donald Trump to create jobs for her state.
Spanberger told “PBS NewsHour” that Trump is “not the right person” to rebuild Virginia’s economy because of his so-called “attack on the federal workforce.” Much of the federal workforce are not receiving paychecks because of the Democrats’ vote to shut down the government on Oct. 1.
“You position yourself as a consensus builder, someone who works across the aisle. Would you work with President Trump on areas like job creation?” a reporter asked.
“I think that, you know, you don’t work with the arsonist who burns down the house to rebuild it.And in this particular case, the individual who’s responsible for an absolute attackon the federal workforce is not the right person to help rebuild our economy,” Spanberger said.

Her opponent, Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, stated that Spanberger is unfit for office because her “hatred for Trump outweighs” her “love for Virginians.”
“When your hatred for President Trump outweighs your love for Virginians… you’re not fit for office,” Sears wrote on X.
