Alyssa Farah Griffin Tells Pete Buttigieg His Comparison Of Mike Pence, JD Vance ‘Undercuts’ Warnings About Trump

“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin confronted Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Friday for comparing former Vice President Mike Pence to vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance.

Buttigieg said during a July 19 segment on “Real Time with Bill Maher” that he is hopeful Vance will not sacrifice his own values in the same way that Pence allegedly did while he served as Trump’s vice president. Griffin told Buttigieg that his comment “white washes” Vance and “undercuts” the alleged threat to democracy.

“But you recently seemed to equate to J.D. Vance, whose primary credential to be vice president seems to be that he wouldn’t uphold the Constitution and do what Mike Pence did on January 6,” Griffin said. “I’m worried that equating the two white washes J.D. Vance and his constitutional stance, but also undercuts this warning you and I have both argued that second Trump term would be historically dangerous, and more dangerous than the first. Do you see how it could be interpreted that way?”

“Well look, I think we are both right to point out how dangerous and damaging a Trump presidency would be. But I also think it’s important to tell the truth about the choices that both of these men made,” Buttigieg replied. “Mike Pence and J.D. Vance are very different men, but in my view, each of them sold out his own values in order to attach himself to Donald Trump in order to get power.”
