Brittany Boltinhouse Sues Miss USA Over Hidden Motive

Brittany Boltinhouse filed a defamation lawsuit in North Carolina on Sunday, claiming pageant bosses hid her faith as the real reason for her removal. The dethroned titleholder alleges organizers used old social media posts to cover up their true motive. According to reports, her legal team claims the group conspired to paint her as a bigot. They argue the real reason she lost her crown was that she is a conservative Christian.

Boltinhouse, 27, was stripped of her Miss North Carolina USA title on August 5. The lawsuit was filed just before the Miss USA pageant begins in Miami on Monday. She says the organization falsely portrayed her as racist and homophobic to damage her reputation. This legal battle challenges the narrative that her past posts were the only issue at hand.

Old social media posts from 2017 and 2019 resurfaced after she won her crown in late June. The complaint notes she used a racial slur in six of these posts. Her lawyers argue these posts became an issue only after she secured the title. They claim the organizers used these “innocuous posts” to smear her character. The lawsuit states the group maliciously coordinated to publish a false public narrative.

Boltinhouse is described as a proud Latina woman with Honduran roots and an entrepreneur. Despite this, the lawsuit says she was targeted for her political beliefs. She attended a speech by Donald Trump on the National Mall on January 6, 2021. She also expressed support for Andrew and Tristan Tate. The filing says she publicly opposed Joe Biden’s Transgender Day of Visibility proclamation.

Pageant leaders claimed she violated standards by condemning racism and homophobia. But the lawsuit says they wanted a false confession she refused to give. A pre-prepared statement asked her to admit her past words were wrong. The filing quotes the statement she was asked to sign: “Over the past several days, I have been forced to confront parts of my past that I am not proud of.” She refused to endorse this version of events.

The civil lawsuit was filed in Duplin County Superior Court in North Carolina. It lists the Miss USA organization and its chairman, Thom Brodeur, as defendants. A Blaize Productions, which oversaw the state contest, is also named. The complaint says these defendants hid the real reason for her removal from the public. They claim the group wanted to shun her from public life.
