Bill McKibben, perhaps America’s leading environmentalist, advised his fellow progressives to give Vice President Kamala Harris a break on the issue of fracking to help her chances of becoming president, according to Bloomberg News.
McKibben, an ardent opponent of fossil fuels, urged progressive voters to look past Harris’ newfound support for fracking because Pennsylvania — where natural gas plays a major economic role — will be a crucial battleground in the 2024 election, according to Bloomberg News. As a candidate for the presidency in 2019, Harris was adamant that she supported banning fracking, but she has pivoted away from that position in the weeks since she became the de facto Democratic nominee in July.
