ESPN sports analyst Pat McAfee immediately defended his interview with President Donald Trump on Tuesday in anticipation of backlash from his liberal viewers.
President Donald Trump joined “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday in honor of Veterans Day and in celebration of America’s troops. McAfee, who was live at the USMC’s Parris Island, told viewers who might be angry that he would obviously interview Trump if given the chance since he’s the Commander-in-Chief and because he is “hilarious.”
“For the immediate people that are gonna be mad about that happening, it’s the president of the United States. It’s Veterans Day. He’s the Commander-in-Chief. Obviously, if we have the opportunity to talk to him, we’re going to. And he is hilarious,” McAfee said.

The president said his administration is helping veterans receive speedy and affordable healthcare and is extending support to the young veterans, who often do not know about how the Department of Veterans Affairs is supporting them. He assured listeners that veterans will be taken care of like never before under his watch.
“Well to me, means taking care of the veterans because they’ve taken care of us and you know, we have a 92% approval rating at the VA and I just got back from making a speech,” Trump said. “It was beautiful. The whole surrounding, the whole, I don’t know if you got to witness a little bit on television, but it was something. And the veterans have taken such good care of us. What I think of with the veterans is how do I take care of the veterans? And we’ve done a really good job.”
“When you’re a vet, you’re a vet. And we take care of our vets like nobody’s ever taken care of them before,” Trump added.
