The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) program “Panorama” allegedly misled viewers by airing an edited version of President Donald Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021, speech in 2024 calling for his supporters to protest Congress certifying the electoral votes for the 2020 election, The Telegraph reported Monday.
The 19-page dossier, authored by Michael Prescott, a former external advisor to the network’s Editorial Guidelines and Standards Committee, detailed bias in the state-supported broadcaster’s coverage of multiple issues, according to The Telegraph. Senior officials at the BBC have reportedly not responded to the concerns raised in the dossier, while unidentified “managers” refused to admit that “a breach of standards” occurred, The Telegraph reported.
“The spliced together version of Trump’s comments aired by Panorama made it seem that he said: ‘We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not gonna have a country anymore,’” the dossier stated about “Panorama’s” depiction of Trump’s address on the Ellipse of the White House.
“While we don’t comment on leaked documents, when the BBC receives feedback it takes it seriously and considers it carefully,” a BBC spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Michael Prescott is a former adviser to a board committee where differing views and opinions of our coverage are routinely discussed and debated.”
