Maxine Waters Claims With Straight Face ‘No Violence’ Took Place In LA

Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters claimed Monday that “no violence” took place in Los Angeles, despite footage showing cars being set on fire and at least one attack on federal agents.

President Donald Trump ordered the National Guard to deploy Saturday as riots continued in Los Angeles following a raid by United States 🛂Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a Home Depot. Waters took issue with a characterization by Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McConnell that violence was increasing.

“Well, I was surprised at the way that the police chief was describing all of this,” Waters told “Situation Room” co-host Wolf Blitzer. “There had been no violence where anybody that was protesting hit anybody, shot anybody, threatened anybody. Nothing had happened. And so he doesn’t know what to do, probably, because this is a sanctuary city, and the police don’t have the authority. All that he’s got to do is work with the governor.”

During a Sunday press conference, McConnell outlined how his officers were being attacked, ABC7.com reported.

“Tonight we had individuals out there shooting commercial-grade fireworks at our officers that can kill you,” McDonnell told reporters.
