Erik and Madison Swanson received some good news late Wednesday regarding their son who was hit by a SUV Sunday.
Toby Swanson, 4, was taken out of the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), according to the Toronto Sun.
Toby, whose father is a relief pitcher with the Toronto Blue Jays, was listed in critical condition after he was hit by a SUV in Clearwater, Florida. Toby was flown by helicopter to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.
His mother posted an update on Instagram.
“The most important update is that Toby is out of the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit) and we are continuing to take it day by day. God is so good and we are so blessed,” Madison Swanson wrote on Instagram Wednesday night.
She added: “We are so grateful for the speedy first responders to the accident, the pedestrians that helped us as we waited for the next step and the AMAZING staff at St. Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Someone has truly been watching over my little man.”
Swanson is currently on leave from the Blue Jays in light of Toby’s accident. No announcement has been made regarding his return.
The Blue Jays organization has offered support to the Swanson family.
