Artists Build Gallery Scenes Across US Cities

Artist-led and regional art spaces are creating alternatives to traditional galleries, from Jaejoon Jang’s Brooklyn space, which covers exhibition costs for artists, to Austin’s new Ostillo Art Foundation amid the city’s growth as a cultural hub. In New Haven, Open Studios brings together exhibitions across the city, including City Gallery’s show of all 15 member artists and Creative Arts Workshop’s annual exhibition featuring works rooted in local landscapes. Separately, a satirical installation featuring a printer and banknotes appeared near the Bank of England as a commentary on inflation.
