Atrium Set to Rejoin NC Plan for 750,000 Members
Atrium Health and North Carolina’s State Health Plan reached a multi-year agreement keeping all current Atrium facilities in the plan’s middle “access” tier starting in 2027, allowing members to continue using Atrium providers at roughly current out-of-pocket costs. The deal resolves a months-long dispute that had included plans to move many Atrium facilities out of network and litigation over Atrium’s offer to subsidize members’ costs. Atrium will end that affordability program, and the State Health Plan will drop its lawsuit. Members may still pay less by choosing preferred providers, including UNC Health and Novant Health, as the plan seeks to manage its budget deficit.
