Attempted Arsons Probed in New Brunswick, Hagerstown
New Brunswick police are investigating a burglary and attempted arson at a home near Easton Avenue after Rutgers-affiliated residents returned early Saturday and found signs of forced entry, damaged belongings and tampering with gas sources. No one was confronted or injured, and authorities have not released a suspect description. Police are asking anyone with information or who was in the area to contact the Detective Bureau; Rutgers also urged the community to stay alert and use available campus safety resources. The investigation comes amid reports of two attempted car thefts and two vehicle break-ins at nearby university parking lots during the same overnight period.
