Auburn Drops Charges Against Man Punched by Officer

Auburn prosecutors dismissed charges without prejudice against Mauro Alberto Felix Valles, leaving open the possibility of refiling them as evidence emerges in the investigation of his Oct. 28 arrest. Police said officers responded to reports that he was running into traffic and trying to enter vehicles, and that a struggle followed after an officer used a Taser and attempted to handcuff him. Released footage appears to show Officer Andrew Bryant striking Valles repeatedly in the head while on top of him; Bryant has been placed on administrative leave. Police said four officers were needed to restrain Valles, who was taken to a hospital, while his lawyer said he suffered a concussion and called for Bryant to resign.
