Auburn OC flags rushing, turnover issues
Auburn offensive coordinator Joel Gordon says the Tigers must find offensive answers faster as they prepare to face unbeaten, top-ranked Georgia after a 24-14 loss to Tennessee. Through five games, Auburn has struggled to establish a consistent rushing attack and has often been slow to adjust when its game plan stalls. Quarterback Byrum Brown has seven touchdown passes and seven interceptions, and has taken 18 sacks; Gordon says better decisions and improved protection are needed, while noting that Brown is adjusting to the faster pace of SEC play. Gordon believes Brown’s mistakes are avoidable, but Georgia’s defense—one of the nation’s strongest and a frequent source of pressure—will test whether Auburn can make those corrections.
