Auburn Officer on Leave After Video Shows Him Striking Man

An Auburn police officer was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation after videos showed the officer repeatedly striking a man during an arrest on Auburn Way North. Police said the man had been running into traffic and trying to enter vehicles, resisted commands, and struggled after an officer used a Taser; four officers were ultimately needed to restrain him. The man was taken to a hospital, with police saying he did not appear seriously injured. Witnesses and the man’s family questioned the force used, saying he appeared confused and may have been experiencing a mental health crisis; his family reported that he was left unconscious.
